Residents,

We are working closely with both Local and State Officials during this situation. We are recommending you visit the PA Department of Health’s website https://www.health.pa.gov/topics/disease/Pages/Coronavirus.aspx or the Center for Disease Control’s website https://www.cdc.gov/coronavirus/2019-nCoV/index.html for updated information regarding COVID-19 Pandemic.

PARKS & RECREATION PROPERTIES UPDATE:

The Chestnuthill Township Board of Supervisors and staff have created a plan for our park properties in line with the Pennsylvania Department of Conservation and Natural Resources; which includes the closure of the Chestnuthill Township Park (221 Route 715, Brodheadsville PA) in order to deter group activities from using facilities such as the basketball courts, volleyball courts, restroom facilities, etc. in order to encourage social distancing. The other remaining park properties including the “West End Regional Park”, “Big Woods Natural Area” and the “Silver Valley Natural Area” will all remain open for trail use and passive recreation, although in accordance with State and Federal guidelines we encourage maintaining a distance of 6-feet from other trail users and limiting walking groups to under 10 individuals.

RECYCLING CENTER/TRANSFER STATION/COMPOST FACILITY UPDATE:

The Board of Supervisors considers the Chestnuthill Township Recycling Center/Transfer Station and Compost Facilities to be essential to all Township Residents and therefore will remain open. Operations will continue unchanged, although we do ask that you avoid contact with other residents and staff as much as possible.

MUNICIPAL OFFICE UPDATE:

The Chestnuthill Township Municipal Building is closed to the public until further notice per Governor Wolf's Social Distancing recommendations. During this period, we recommend that if you need to contact the Township regarding any number of items including but not limited to zoning permits, building permits, sewage permits, road issues, park questions or other issues that you take advantage of our contact page www.chestnuthilltwp-pa.gov/contact-us on our website, or contact individual staff members by email (Email addresses for individual staff are listed on our webpage www.chestnuthilltwp-pa.gov/township-directory for your convenience), or you can always call us at 570-992-7247.

We appreciate your understanding during this difficult time.

Sincerely,
