Chestnuthill Township Proposed 2010 Budget and Fiscal Plan

The proposed 2010 Budget and Fiscal Plan was made available to the public by the Chestnuthill Township Board of Supervisors at the Board’s regular meeting held on November 17, 2009.

The Fiscal Plan reflects expenditures of $4,755,504. No tax increase is proposed. The millage rate will remain at 4 mills. For every $25,000 of assessment (1/4 of the assessed value) $100 will be paid by residents of Chestnuthill Township in real estate taxes.

The General Fund Budget totals $4,200,646, of which $433,579 or 10.32% will be spent for Emergency Services. In 2005 Chestnuthill Township and the Teamsters Local 773 reached a 5 year labor settlement that will provide wage stability through 2010. Going into 2009 with a decrease in workload, the office staff has been reduced by 20%.

Road maintenance costs for 2010 are projected to be $1,162,564 which is a budgeted  decrease of 3.00%.

In 2010 the Township will renovate and create a new reception area for residents and develop a master filing area fro record keeping. The Township is also proposing to construct a pole building to keep equipment and supplies out of the weather using General Fund dollars.

In cooperation with Burnley Workshop and the PA DEP, Chestnuthill Township continues to expand recycling opportunities to our residents. New for 2010 the Transfer Station/Recycling Center is proposing to have extended hours until 4:45PM on Saturdays.
